Bledsoe PTB Boot
Product Comparison | Ordering Info | Accessories
The Bledsoe PTB Boot is designed as a flexible and attractive alternative to casting for the mid-tibia or fibula to mid-foot area while providing patella tendon bearing support.
The Bledsoe EZ Set PTB Boot is designed for range of motion from 20 degrees of dorsi-flexion to 40 degrees of plantar-flexion in 10 degree increments.
Features include:
- Winged tibia plate is pre-formed to fit the tibia and support patellar tendon bearing
- Aluminum boot shell and upright system that unlike plastic boots, can be reformed to fit virtually any leg or ankle shape
- Offers superior support without casting complications
- Unique rocker design allows patients to closely simulate a near normal gait without abnormal loads on any joints
- Contains 3 layers of pads that contour to the ankle shape and support the ankle for total control
- Optional air ankle/heel pad allows for ability to adjust ankle pressure for increased comfort and provides pneumatic ankle support
Indications
Indicated for treatment of stable or internally fixed fractures or fractures with bridging callous of the middle to distal tibia or fibula when partial patellar tendon bearing is desired.
Contraindications
This device is contraindicated for unstable fractures or for fractures of the proximal tibia or fibula. The Bledsoe EZ-Set Hinge used on any Bledsoe Walking Boot is contra-indicated for unstable fractures or for fractures of the proximal tibia or fibula and is also contraindicated for use during weight bearing in a plantar flexed position for Achilles tendon injuries or repairs (see Achilles Tendon Boot). When fixed or locked in any degree of plantar flexion, all Bledsoe hinged boots should be used non-weight bearing only.

Bledsoe PTB Boot vs. other methods Back to top
| Skin Comfort |
Open-cell, breathable foam laminate increases comfort and reduces possibility of skin problems. |
Flame bonded technique closes foam pores and increases possibility of skin problems. |
| Rocker Bottom |
Computer-designed rocker tread allows a near normal walking gait, and low heel prevents pelvic tilt. |
Rocker is either too high, causing back pain, or too flat, not allowing the patient to walk properly. |
| Security & Control |
Straps engage and lock to brace uprights, holding the leg steady. |
Straps pass over the uprights, through slots or to only one upright, causing the leg to move under the uprights. |
| Shell & Uprights |
Strong aluminum alloy provides strength, yet allows formability to change widths. |
Plastic shell and uprights can not be formed for swollen ankles or large legs. |
| Fracture Treatment |
Has a winged fracture plate for patella tendon bearing. |
No plates...can not accommodate patella tendon bearing. |
