Gary Henley named as CEO of United Orthopedic Group

CARLSBAD, California (October 1, 2012) – The Board of Directors of United Orthopedic Group (UOG) announces that effective today, Gary Henley, formerly COO of UOG, will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Henley has been serving as UOG’s COO for the last year, so this move will increase his presence at the helm of all of UOG’s subsidiaries.

Stepping aside from his role as CEO for the past five years, Greg Nelson will continue as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for UOG. Mr. Nelson remains committed to the growth and success of UOG and all of its brands, and will focus on the development of new business opportunities.

Since its founding in 2007, UOG has steadily continued to grow, with a portfolio of important product brands including Bledsoe Brace Systems and Hope Orthopedic, and the creation of a national orthopedic services company in Viscent.

About Gary Henley

Mr. Henley’s career in the medical device industry began with the invention of a microscopic camera system used in arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery. Smith & Nephew Inc. (SNN) bought Mr. Henley’s CeCorp Inc., in 1987, and he spent 10 years as President of Smith & Nephew’s Endoscopy Video Division. He then became President of the America’s Division for Orthofix International for 10 years. In 2006 Gary was appointed President and CEO of Wright Medical Group (WMGI) and was there until he joined UOG in 2011. Gary resides in the Dallas area with his wife, Peggy.
